MACC urges Malaysian students abroad to form Anti-Corruption Secretariat
Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 ― The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today called for the setting up of an Anti-Corruption Secretariat by Malaysian students abroad to enhance their awareness on corruption.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dr Abu Kassim Mohamed said he had raised the matter during his meeting with Malaysian students' representatives in Russia recently.

“This Anti-Corruption Secretariat can serve as an information centre and organise anti-corruption activities involving Malaysian students overseas.

“I believe this can be realised because MACC wants the young generation to be given latest information on efforts by the commission to fight corruption and create a free-corruption environment,” he said in a statement here today.

On his meeting with the Malaysian students' representatives in Russia recently, Abu Kassim, who is International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) vice-president, said it was attended by almost 2,000 Malaysian students.

He said it was the commission's hope that Malaysian students in Russia would be the first group to form the secretariat.

As of December last year, 20 Anti-Corruption Secretariats have been formed at public institutions of higher learning, teacher education institute (27) and MARA educational institute (55). ― Bernama
