KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The tragic accident at Duta-Ulu Klang (DUKE) Highway which took the lives of three members of a family in May happened when a yellow Myvi driven by the accused and the victims’ Pajero grazed each other.
Chemist Mohd Amir Husna Nik Alli@ Zulkifli from the Chemistry Department said this at the Traffic Court in the trial of two Myvi drivers, Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said, 36, and Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamauddin, 31.
The duo are accused of dangerous driving and causing the deaths of Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, and their six-month-old daughter Nur Firuza Annisa.
They allegedly committed the offence at Km6, DUKE Highway from Ulu Klang towards Jalan Duta between 12.31am and 12.35am on May 2.
“The collision involved the middle section on the right side of the Pajero and front left side of the yellow Myvi,” said Mohd Amir Husna in cross-examination by deputy public prosecutor Suhaimi Ibrahim.
According to the prosecution’s fifth witness, he was assigned to investigate the tragedy and submitted his report to the investigating officer on May 20.
Earlier to a question by Suhaimi on whether he could determine which vehicle first knocked the other, Mohd Amin Husna said he could not.
At the hearing today, Mohammad Fizal Reza was represented by counsel S. N Seelan while Siti Noor Aini, by counsel Omar Bakhi Ahmad.
Counsel C. Leo Camoens is holding a watching brief for the family of the victims.
The trial before Magistrate Zilfinaz Abbas will resume on Dec 7. — Bernama
