KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — A growing number of the faithful have reportedly been visiting the St Thomas More Catholic Church in Subang Jaya, Selangor over the past week to catch sight of a “miracle”, after a video clip recounting the event spread online.
According to The Star, a polyresin statue of the Virgin Mary that had been placed in a grotto on the church grounds had recently changed into porcelain and grown taller by 7.5cm during a blessing ceremony by the parish priest Rev Father Raymond Pereira last Wednesday.
A church member who was present during the ceremony was reported recounting the incident to the congregation during Mass last Sunday, the daily reported based on a three-minute video clip that has been circulating through the Whatsapp smartphone application.
The unnamed parishioner claimed the statue smiled a little and shed tears.
He also claimed the parish priest to have allegedly spoken to the Virgin Mary and imparted a message saying she will visit more often and urged all to pray to her.
Catholics revere Mary as the mother of Jesus Christ.
The Star said it was unable to contact the parish priest for comment.
This is the second time a visitation from the Catholic Holy Family has allegedly taken place in the Subang Jaya neighbourhood.
In November 2012, silhouettes of the Virgin Mary and even of Jesus were purported to have appeared on the glass windows of the Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya, which also drew hundreds of Catholics to the hospital in homage.
The glass panels were later removed and presented for safekeeping in the Marian Church of Our Lady Lourdes in Klang.
