KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — More areas recorded unhealthy air quality at 7pm today as compared to the afternoon.
According to the Department of Environment (DOE), the Air Pollutants Index (API) reading in three more areas had entered into the unhealthy territory namely Kota Tinggi, Johor at 115; Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan (109) and Paka, Terengganu (104).
Balok Baru in Pahang had the highest API reading at 7pm (131) followed by Pasir Gudang, Johor (124).
At 7pm, the API reading for Larkin Lama; Johor was 122, Malacca City and Bukit Rambai, Malacca (123); Indera Mahkota, Kuantan (117); Muar, Johor (114) and Kemaman, Terengganu (114).
Thirty areas had moderate air quality with the highest API readings at Banting, Selangor (92); Putrajaya and Seremban, Negri Sembilan (91); Jerantut, Pahang (90); Port Klang, Selangor (89); Samarahan, Sarawak and Nilai, Negri Sembilan (88) and Shah Alam, Selangor (83).
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 (medium), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
