PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 — The closure of schools in Johor following unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings since yesterday is extended to tomorrow.

The Education Ministry, in a statement, said the closure of schools in Johor tomorrow was made based on the monitoring of the API nationwide as of 4pm today, which found the haze condition in the state had not changed much compared to yesterday.

In this regard, the State Education Department and District Education Offices in Johor were ordered to quickly inform the schools and parents in their respective areas on the closure, it said.

Based on the website of the Department of Environment, as of 4pm today, four areas in Johor recorded unhealthy API readings, namely, Larkin Lama (128); Pasir Gudang (121); Muar (113) and Kota Tinggi (108).

Meanwhile, all schools in Malacca which were closed today due to the haze were directed to reopen as normal tomorrow as the haze situation in the state has improved. — Bernama
