KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — The Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) website is down after a group of hackers struck, defacing its news page with vulgar insults aimed at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The webpage could not be accessed whether on desktop computers or smartphones from 3pm today.

Malay Mail Online managed to contact a representative of the BNBBC website who declined comment.

However, the website administrator later posted a message acknowledging that the site was disabled temporarily following the hack.

“The web portal bnbbc.my has been temporarily closed for maintenance after disturbance from irresponsible parties,” the posting read.

Malay Mail Online understands that in one of the attacks, hackers had altered the headline of a news story on the BNBBC website about a court case, turning it into an insult on the prime minister.

In another profanity-strewn screenshot of the webpage sighted by Malay Mail Online, the hackers had typed the words “Owned by M4XS4L1M1 and BlackCyberRoot Team” on a plain white background.

“Please close the webpage if you only know how to suck up but do not know how to repair the bugs that are on the website.

“We are BlackCyberRoot Team. We are from Malaysia. We hate Najib. We want to change,” the hackers wrote in Bahasa Malaysia on the page with the domain www.bnbbc.my.
