All Kuching-Pontianak, Pontianak-Kuching flights cancelled until further notice due to haze

KUCHING, Sept 27 — Flights for the Kuching/Pontianak/Kuching sector is cancelled until further notice, said Kuching International Airport senior manager (LTAK) Mohd Nadzim Hashim.

He said, as of 3 pm today, two flights were cancelled, one arrival and one departure, namely, for the Kuching/Pontianak/Kuching sector. 

“Nevertheless, no passengers were involved as all have been notified earlier,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Meanwhile, Mohd Nadzim said nine flights were delayed, five departures and four arrivals as of 3 pm.

The departure sectors involved were Kuching/Kuala Lumpur and Kuching/Sibu, while the affected arrival sectors were Kuala Lumpur/Kuching and Sibu/Kuching, he said.

He said 1,143 passengers were involved in delays, comprising 494 passengers for arrivals, and 649 passengers for departures,” he said. 

He said one flight was diverted, namely, flight MH2542 for the Kuala Lumpur/Kuching sector, which was diverted to Sibu with 65 passengers. 

He said visibility as at 1 pm, at around 900 metres, did not change.  In the meantime, Mohd Nadzim advised all passengers using flights via LTAK to check the flight schedules with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. — Bernama
