KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 ― A group of “red shirts” led by Bayan Baru Umno information chief Datuk Mohd Ridzwan Bakar stormed into the Dewan MBPP in Bayan Baru, Penang last night disrupting a post-Bersih 4 forum that was underway.
However, the organisers of the forum made a quick decision to invite Mohd Ridzwan to speak instead, narrowly avoiding a confrontation, The Star Online reported today.
According to the news portal, the Umno grassroots leader accepted the offer and spoke about Malay-related issues, including a squatter colony in his Bayan Baru constituency.
Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin was also present during the talk, responded and told the audience the issue was out of his hands as it was a matter for the local government.
However, he commended Mohd Ridzwan for being sporting enough to speak.
“I think he has been gentlemen [sic] and was sporting enough to speak in front of the crowd. At least people can judge for themselves,” the PKR lawmaker was quoted as saying.
The news portal reported the forum ended about 10.30pm without further incident.
