KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 ― The Umno member who sued party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over a RM2.6 billion donation said today that she did it out of love for the Malay ruling party.

Langkawi Wanita Umno division chief Anina Saaduddin said she knew important people in Umno would not act against Najib and that she took the matter to court out of “loyalty” to the party.

"I feel like I am responsible to protect the interests of three million Umno members,” Anina told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur courthouse here.

"I am skeptical that, even though Datuk Seri Najib has affected the image and interests of Umno, the parties with a vested interest in Umno will take any action against Datuk Seri Najib Razak…Because of that, due to the awareness, loyalty and commitment to Umno, it has become my responsibility to protect the interests and good name of Umno. Today I, on behalf of Umno, am present in court to file a claim against Datuk Seri Najib," she added.
