KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Immigration Department has not received any directive to revoke the permanent residency (PR) of Jessica Gurmit Kaur despite reports claiming otherwise, its director-general Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim said.

It was recently reported that Jessica, a legal officer from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) seconded to help in an investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), had her PR revoked after she was questioned by the police earlier this month over alleged leaks in the probe.

“When did we (Immigration Department) revoke the subject’s PR?” Mustafa asked Malay Mail Online via WhatsApp.

“For the time being, we have not come out with any statement regarding this case,” he added, but declined to elaborate further.

Mustafa’s deputy Datuk Sakib Kusmi was quoted last weekend as saying that although the government had revoked Jessica’s PR, she can seek other passes as her husband is Malaysian.

“There is no need to deport her. She can apply for a special or social visit pass since she is married to a Malaysian,” he told The Star.

He declined to confirm, however, whether she was still in the country.

Previous news reports stated that Jessica’s PR had been revoked along with the residency permits for her three children following her release on police bail after her statement was recorded.

The Singaporean has been living in Malaysia for more than 20 years before she was investigated by the authorities along with former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) adviser Tan Sri Rashpal Singh over a purported leak in relation to a charge sheet against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

She was head of administration and finance at the AGC and was also attached to the special task force investigating corruption claims against the prime minister.

The taskforce has since been disbanded by the new AG Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali when he took over from his predecessor whose services were suddenly terminated months before his retirement.
