PETALING JAYA, Aug 23 — Former deputy director of the Special Branch (SB) Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador claimed today that his sudden transfer could be due to his previous demands for the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) probe to be conducted professionally and in a transparent manner.

Hamid, who received a sudden transfer out of the police intelligence unit into the Prime Minister’s Department last week, had also called for the government to explain the 1MDB controversy properly, as many Malaysians were still confused about the issue.

“Perhaps it is because of my insistence in stating that the investigations on 1MDB should be done transparently,” Hamid told a news conference when asked to comment on the reasons behind his abrupt transfer.

“The people are confused, stressed and angry over what has happened. 1MDB is confusing; come forward and explain. What is 1MDB? Where did the money go? Explain,” he added, claiming that the government kept giving contradictory answers on issues concerning the state investment fund.

“Don't say wait until the task force finishes, then keep changing the goal posts and delaying (the probe).

“Is it hard for the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) for the Auditor General to explain? If it is taking a long time, explain the parts which have been completed first,” he said.

1MDB, a brainchild of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, is under a multi-agency probe here for alleged financial irregularities.
