GEORGE TOWN, Aug 18 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today pledged the state’s assistance to any of its residents injured or whose relatives were killed in the bombing in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
The Penang lawmaker also offered his condolences to relatives of those killed in the blast while condemning the attack at the Erawan Shrine, a popular site for tourists and Thais.
“The state is willing to offer any form of assistance to those affected by the blast,” he said in a press conference at his office.
A total 123 people were injured while at least 21 were killed in the incident in central Bangkok.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry has identified two of those killed as Malaysians Lim Saw Gek and her son, Neoh Jai Jun.
Lim and Neoh are believed to be from Penang.
Their remains are currently being held at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for post mortem.
Two other Malaysians, Tan Rui Hun and Tan Kim Siok, were injured in the incident with the former admitted to the Hua Chiew Hospital for treatment while the later was already discharged today.
