SERI ISKANDAR, Aug 16 — Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein urged Umno members at all levels to keep their emotions in check and not fall for the tempo set by the opposition.

Hishammuddin said Umno members must be rationale and strengthen the party through unity and prepare themselves to face the general election (GE14) and not worry about the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issues or the politics of other countries.

“There is no time or necessity to dabble on such issues. Let those appointed carry out the investigation and we will charge whoever has committed a crime. I am confident the issue can be resolved by end of the year if there is no interference in the investigations,” he said.

Hishammuddin said Umno members must create a wave of awareness to ensure there is no split in the party.

“They (opposition) are belittling us but Umno members have never followed their tempo and leaders have not become emotional. Party leaders must be rationale and remain calm when facing such crisis,” he said when opening the Parit Umno Division’s delegates meeting at Institut Latihan Kemas, here today.

He said the main objective of members should be to ensure the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery is fully prepared to ensure all BN candidates win their respective seats during the GE14. — Bernama
