KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 -- The decision on former Selangor Mentri Besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo’s final appeal against his corruption conviction is expected to be delivered by the end of the month, Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria said today.
“It is coming, that was what I told, end of the month,” he told reporters at the courthouse here, refusing to elaborate further.
Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad said last January he will reserve judgment on Dr Khir’s appeal to a later date. It has been seven months since then.
The former Selangor MB was convicted by the Shah Alam High Court in 2011 of corruptly using his position as MB and Selangor State Development Corporationchairperson to obtain two plots of land in Shah Alam at below the market price to build his mansion.
Dr Khir has appealed against his conviction and one-year jail sentence.
