PASIR SALAK, Aug 2 — Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman today reminded young leaders in the party against issuing statements on the recent Cabinet reshuffle that can undermine unity and harmony in Umno.
“I have come to know that two or three young leaders have suggested disciplinary action against former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Young leaders should not try to be heroes and forget their manners and courtesies as party members,” he told reporters after the opening of the Pasir Salak Wanita Umno Division delegates meeting by Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
On July 28, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reshuffled the Cabinet and replaced Muhyiddin with Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the deputy prime minister. He also dropped four other ministers and appointed seven new ministers.
Tajudin said Muhyiddin had contributed a lot to Umno and he should continue to be respected as the No. 2 leader of the party.
“If he (Muhyiddin) has done any wrong, the Umno disciplinary committee should be allowed to take action. As for now, he has done no wrong,” he added.
He said young party leaders in Umno should not lose their focus but continue to work hard to strengthen the party. — Bernama
