PAROI, Aug 1 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will never quit meddling in the administration of the country, Datuk Seri Najib Razak warned Umno delegates today in a booklet distributed ahead of the party’s Seremban division’s meeting.
The embattled leader said Dr Mahathir, who is now his administration’s harshest critic, will not ease off on his criticism even if he were to adhere to the latter’s request to resign ahead of his term.
“Even if I resign, Tun will continue to meddle in the country’s administration. He can say that he is doing his democratic duty as a citizen but this is Tun Mahathir.
“People are inclined to believe what he says, even though not all is true. It has a big effect on the perception of people because he is not a normal citizen,” Najib said in the booklet.
The 50-page booklet titled “22 answers Najib Razak” published by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry’s Department of Special Affairs was distributed earlier today to Umno delegates here along with a leaflet titled, “Current hot issues; the explanation of Najib Razak”.
Both materials contained detailed explanations from Najib on several issues plaguing his administration as well as answers to Dr Mahathir on topics like the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu, the government’s highly-criticised implementation of the Goods and Services Tax and other matters.
Meanwhile, when met after the event later, JASA director Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi denied that the books were specially printed for the event.
He explained the book was a “repackaged answer from Datuk Seri Najib’s blog” which was published for public consumption.
However, Puad said that the book which was just recently produced has only been distributed to Umno members so far.
“We only came out with the book recently at an Umno event, so far we have only given the book out to members but is for all,” the former Batu Pahat MP said.
