KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — More employers from various industries said they will be hiring more this quarter, a JobStreet.com survey has found.
The survey done on 313 employers found that 32 per cent said they will be hiring more, an increase of 7 per cent compared to the previous quarter.
“Some 41 per cent of employers expect to maintain their hiring rate, signifying some slight improvement compared to 34 per cent in Q2 2015.
“In addition, the number of employers who will be hiring less has also decreased by 14 per cent, a drop from 41 per cent to 27 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter comparison,” JobStreet.com said in a statement.
Sixty-five per cent of the employers surveyed said they needed to fill vacant positions while 35 per cent said they needed to hire because of their companies’ expansion plans.
Meanwhile, it revealed that sales and marketing jobs are currently leading in terms of job growth with over 5,979 job postings, the highest compared to other specialisations.
“Sales & Marketing is a very competitive industry with a high turnover rate particularly among Junior and Fresh/Entry-Level employees.
“Hence, hiring levels remain optimistic as there is a large number of candidates actively competing and searching for new roles and a continuous need to fill vacant positions,” said JobStreet.com country manager Chook Yuh Yng said in a statement.
