GEORGE TOWN, July 27 — Police today recorded statements from five senior students to assist investigations into an alleged bullying case involving a group of Form One students at a secondary school hostel in Jalan Masjid Negeri, here.
Timur Laut police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the five students, all 17, arrived at the Timur Laut police headquarters to have their statement recorded.
“Police will record statements from a number of other senior students and 17 Form One students who were also victims in the bullying case. They are expected to be at the Timur Laut police station tomorrow or a day after,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
Last Wednesday, one of the victims who is the brother of an actress, and 16 other Form One students were scolded by a group of Form Five students when they returned to the hostel after buying food, allegedly for not seeking permission to leave the hostel.
Apart from being scolded, the students also claimed they were beaten up by the group of senior students who claimed they suffered bruises and swelling.
Meanwhile, Mior Faridalatrash said one of the victim’s father who had earlier lodged a police report over the incident, had withdrawn his police report today.
“Though the police report was withdrawn by a victim’s father, police will carry out a detailed investigation into the case,” he said. — Bernama
