KUALA SELANGOR, July 12 — Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil wants mosques and suraus in the country to be more women-friendly especially to senior citizens and the handicapped.

She said although there were many beautiful mosques in the country, facilities for women were still lacking.

“The prayer area is on the higher floors and it is difficult for women to climb the steps, similarly the toilets are quite far from the prayer area,” she told reporters after officiating a Selangor Umno Quran reading programme at the Puncak Alam Mosque today.

Also present were Selangor Umno chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Selangor Wanita Umno head Datuk Norhayati Onn and Kuala Selangor member of parliament Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim. — Bernama
