KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — A parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member has questioned the delay in receiving documents from the Finance Ministry (MoF) and 1Malaysia Development Bhd's (1MDB) then-auditors for the committee's investigation on the state-owned firm.

Tony Pua said the PAC has yet to receive documents from Deloitte and KPMG, who were supposed to have submitted these to MoF that would then forward them to PAC.

"Is there an instruction to stop the documents from reaching PAC or to delay them as long as possible from reaching the PAC?" Pua told a press conference at the Parliament building here today.

Pua’s remarks came after the PAC was briefed on the interim report of the Auditor-General’s (A-G) investigations on 1MDB that is reportedly facing a RM42 billion debt burden.

PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said earlier today that the PAC will call up in September businessman Jho Low, who was adviser to the Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA), the predecessor of 1MDB.  

Besides being investigated by the PAC and A-G, 1MDB is also under investigation by a special taskforce headed by the Attorney-General’s Chambers and includes Bank Negara Malaysia, the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
