KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — The shooting of a church worker who is currently hospitalised at Hospital Sungai Buloh could be a case of “mistaken identity”, according to the police.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaidi Bujang said the shooting this Wednesday morning does not seem to be due to religion.

“We are still trying to establish if she was a victim of mistaken identity,” he was quoted saying by local daily The Star.

“There is no indication that the shooting was religiously motivated, as she was only an administrative staff,” he added.

Junaidi also noted that the woman’s husband owns a brick factory and that she and her family do not have enemies.

The woman, aged 51 with two children, was shot at the junction heading towards the Sungai Buloh toll plaza and was injured on her face and left arm, The Star reported.

According to The Star, two men wearing full-face helmets on a motorcycle had stopped near her car, before one of them got down and fired at the driver’s side of the car.
