KANGAR, July 10 — Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim called on the people to stop making comments on the 1MDB issue to allow the special task force to conduct investigation.

"As the minister responsible for matters pertaining to audit by PAC (Public Accounts Committee) on 1MDB, I'll make sure immediate action be taken after PAC submits its report," he added.

He told this to reporters at the breaking-of-fast event with heads of federal and state departments in Perlis here last night.

Shahidan, who is also Perlis Umno liaison committee chairman said all quarters should remain calm as the task force would investigate the matter from all aspects.

"I would like to call on Malaysians to lay down arms. Stop Facebooking and Watsapp for the time being.

“There is no need to publish sensational news. Wait for the special task force to complete its investigation," he added.

He was commenting the move by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to initiate legal action against The Wall Street Journal over published articles alleging funds from a government investment company were channelled to his personal bank accounts.

On Najib's behalf, Messrs Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak sent a letter to Dow Jones, the publisher of WSJ, seeking confirmation of its position on the allegations in the articles which appeared on July 2 and 6. — Bernama
