KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — British American Tobacco Malaysia (BAT) today revised the prices of its premium cigarettes to include the Goods and Services Tax (GST), increasing it by another thirty sen effective tomorrow.
In a statement, the company’s managing director Stefano Clini said that the price revision was decided after they absorbed GST after its implementation on April 1 this year.
“The price revision today is to take into account the Goods and Services Tax. The company has been absorbing Goods and Services Tax subsequent to its implementation on April 1, 2015,” Clini said.
Following the revision, a price of pack of Dunhill cigarettes — one of the best selling brands under the BAT stable — will go up to RM13.80 from the current price of RM13.50.
BAT Malaysia has previously increased the price of its cigarettes by 50 sen after GST took effect on April 1, but quickly reverted back to pre-GST rates. — Reuters
