KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) today lodged a police report against an alleged racist remark made by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, which went viral on social media recently.

They also called for stern legal action if the statement was indeed made by Guan Eng.

On the other hand, if the statement was found to be false, MJMM urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate, since such untrue allegations are considered libel and spread by irresponsible parties.

MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said on June 20, there was a picture relating to Guan Eng's statement by Gerakan Memartabatkan Pejuang Negara's Facebook page, which was deemed an insult to the Malays.

"I am concerned that this statement might offend the Malays and fan the flames of racial tension which may lead to a riot," he told reporters after lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here today. — Bernama
