KUALA SELANGOR, June 6 — At his maiden appearance as PAS Youth chief today, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz expressed wonder over his election to the post after confessing to being soft spoken.
The son of former PAS spiritual advisor Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat also said he had “lied” to Allah by running away from the wing over the past two years.
“This year, fate pulled me in and I had no and was forced to take this,” he said.
“I don’t know why I was chosen as the Youth chief as one of its main criteria is to have a loud voice and all of my predecessors were brilliant in debating,” Nik Abduh said.
However, he was quick to caution his party members to not undermine his ability.
“I am not shy, shy cat but shy shy tiger... my scratch can make you bleed,” Nik Abduh added.
On June 3, Nik Abduh, a known leader in the Islamist party’s conservative faction, defeated Suhaizan Kaiat by 429 votes to 263.
Nik Abduh, also the Pasir Mas MP, had previously served as deputy chief of PAS Youth between 2011 and 2013 under then chief Nasruddin Hassan.
The two were then elected into the party’s central working committee during the 2013 party polls.
