Former Selangor MB Khalid gets rousing welcome at PAS muktamar

KUALA SELANGOR, June 6 — Former Selangor mentri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim arrived as a special observer on the last day of PAS annual congress here, and was greeted with thunderous applause from delegates in the Kuala Selangor Mini Stadium.

Now an independent lawmaker after being sacked by PKR at the height of the Selangor mentri besar saga, Khalid entered the hall and took his place while greeting delegates and the media, but refused to take any questions from journalists.

On August 10 last year, Khalid who is Port Klang state assemblyman, was expelled from PKR for refusing to accept the party’s decision for him to make way for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to become Selangor MB.

PAS had then refused to nominate Dr Wan Azizah for the post, however, flaring off a disagreement with its Pakatan Rakyat allies that continued to escalate until the present.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali was eventually appointed as mentri besar, due largely to his nomination by PAS.
