BALING, June 4 — Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) flight operations will not be affected by the dismissal of 6,000 employees as claimed by some parties, said Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi.
It was alleged that several flights were delayed due to the staff dismissal, he said.
He said the termination process was carried out in stages and the new MAS’s management had assured of smooth operation and the quality of service would be maintained.
“That is not true... and the airline staff whose services had been terminated need not worry as the airlines industry is expanding,” he said after launching Baling branch Road Transport Department (RTD), here today.
In fact, he said today Malindo Air issued a statement of their willingness to offer employment to the staff involved.
In the meantime, he said, MAS management should be given the space and time in its rebranding exercise to restore public confidence and its dignity in the international aviation industry.
He also proposed MAS to adopt the low-cost airline model as a recovery measure to improve profitability.
“We want to develop a positive brand that brings high returns, and at the same time provides the best service to the public,” he said. — Bernama
