BUKIT MERTAJAM, May 23 — Three unemployed men and another still at large were charged at a magistrate’s court here yesterday with causing the death of a man.
P. Sasidaran, 25, A. Prabagaran, 26, and G. Thanaseelan, 28, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Diannee Ningrad Nor Azahar fixed July 13 for mention to transfer the case to the Penang High Court.
The three were alleged to have attacked with parang and caused the death of Jahangir Ok Shamsuddin, 20, near the overhead bridge off the sugar factory at Kampong Manis, Prai at about 9pm on Feb 11.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Kairulniza Md Zain prosecuted, while Ravin Jay Kumar represented for the three men.
The three looked calm when the interpreter read the charges to them.
Many of the family members of the accused waited at the courthouse for hours but failed to talk to them.
The accused were taken to the Penang prison pending hearing of their case.
