KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — An insurance agent was fined RM2,000, in default three months’ jail, by the Ampang Magistrate’s Court here today for injuring his wife.
Magistrate Noor Farah Hazwani Osman handed down the sentence on Wan Huzairin Wan Hussin, 41, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was charged with inflicting injuries on his wife, Nor Hayati Ahmad Mokhtar, a 39-year-old clerk, in front of their shophouse at Jalan 6/2, Taman Komersial Pandan Indah, Ampang Jaya here at 7pm last May 11.
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, provides a maximum imprisonment for one year or fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if found guilty.
According to the facts of the case, the clerk returned home after she was informed that her husband was with another woman in the house.
On arrival, she found the house locked, but her husband refused to open the door.
She insisted and the husband opened the door, after which he slapped and punched her, as well as pulled her hair and twisted her arms.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Nur Illyana Zainal prosecuted, while lawyer Fadlyzil Ikram Norzailan Shah represented the accused. — Bernama
