KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 ― The police have detained an African national in connection with the seizure of more than 21.6kg of ganja at his residence at an apartment unit in Petaling Jaya near here last night.
The drug weighing 21.692kg was found in 102 opaque plastic packages at the Mentari Court Apartment in Bandar Sunway.
Petaling Jaya police chief, ACP Azmi Abu Kassim said the 30-year-old suspect was a university student from Nigeria.
He said in the raid at 9.45pm, the police found 21 opaque plastic packages containing dried leaves believed to be ganja in a washing machine.
“We also found a blue cloth bag containing 81 opaque plastic packages of dried leaves believed to be ganja,” he said in a statement today.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. ― Bernama
