RM29m in Eramine 5 pills seized during KL drug bust

KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 — The Federal Police’s (Bukit Aman) Narcotics Crimes Investigation Department (JSJN) seized Eramine 5 pills weighing 410 kilogrammes valued at RM29 million in a raid at a business premises in Bukit Bintang on Thursday.

In the 11pm operation, police also arrested six people, three locals including a couple, a Taiwanese man and an Indonesian man, all aged between 20 and 60 years.

Bukit Aman JSJN director Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said five of the suspects were arrested at the Bukit Bintang premises while the Indonesian man at a hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail.

He said police found 1.4 million Eramine 5 pills which were hidden in 190 modified mineral water bottles at the premises.

“Police believe the pills are for the local market and could have fetched a price of between RM12 and RM30 each.

“Cash of RM7,435 was confiscated in the operation as well a jewellery worth  RM7,200,” he told a press conference at the Federal Police headquarters here today.

He said one of the suspects had seven criminal records related to drugs.

Touching on statistics, Mohd Mokhtar said from January to April, JSJN conducted 59,175 raids with 170,245 individual screened and 60,506 detained.

“Of the 60,506 people, 58,496 were locals and the remaining 2,010 foreigners. Various types of drugs worth RM50.04 million were seized,” he added. — Bernama
