KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — The police suspect the involvement of ‘rogue staff’ working with a security company and having underworld connections in the attack on three security guard posts at a housing area in Klang, Selangor last Saturday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police were convinced there was an element of gangsterism at the incident in Bandar Bukit Raja where a security guard was killed and six others injured.

Nevertheless, he ruled out the security company as having links with secret societies.

“Let us carry out investigations. I do not believe the security company is involved with secret societies but I believe there are people working with the security company who are using such tactics,” he said.

Khalid was speaking to reporters after the launching ceremony of the 1Malaysia People’s Housing Programme (PR1MA) for police personnel here today.

In the incident at 1.45am, a security guard was killed and six others injured when three guard posts in a housing area were attacked by a group of people linked to gangsters.

In a separate development, Khalid said there was no criminal element connected to a recent case where the cross at a church in Taman Medan was removed.

“The cross was brought down upon the request of the public and this was agreed upon by the pastor, and there was no violence used when it was removed,” he added.

On his brother’s role outside the church, Khalid said he was a community leader who played his role in calming down the people. — Bernama
