Kinabatangan man recovering after being shot in chest and robbed by hitchhikers

KOTA KINABALU, April 18 — A man who offered a lift to four men in his four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle nearly paid with his life when he was shot by one of them during a robbery in Kinabatangan near here, yesterday.

In the 1.45pm incident, the robbers took away the 50-year-old victim's two watches and a cell phone at an agriculture plant in Mop C, Ladang Malangking.

Instead of letting the motorist go, one of them whipped out a pistol and shot him in the chest.

Sabah Acting Deputy Commisioner of Police, Datuk Salehhudin Abdul Rahman said today the injured victim sped off from the scene.

He said the man was warded at the Kinabatangan Hospital and his condition was described as stable.

Salehhudin is also state CID chief. — Bernama
