MALACCA, April 15 — A 10-year-old pupil of a Chinese school here is suspected to have died of Influenza A or H1N1, according to Malacca health director Datuk Ghazali Othman.

He said the boy, a Standard Five pupil of Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Pay Teck, died last night at a private hospital.

Ghazali said, however, that the cause of death was still under investigation.

“It is hoped that the public will not rush into any conclusion in the matter,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The pupil was admitted to the hospital after he developed high fever last Friday and had fallen into a coma.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said last night that it would take two to three days to confirm the cause of death. — Bernama
