SERIAN, April 11 — The people in Serian, especially in the parliamentary constituency of Serian, fully support the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as prime minister and Tan Sri Adenan Satem as Sarawak chef minister.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said the Bidayuh community, especially in Serian supported the Barisan Nasional (BN) government because they realised the BN’s ability to lead the country and bring progress to the people.

“The support of the people in Serian is very solid and this has been proven in previous elections whether general or state polls,” he said when speaking at the officiating of the Padi Planting Festival (Pesta Birumuh) Serian 2015 here today.

Adenan officiated the festival, which was also attended by over 10,000 leaders from the Bidayuh and other communities in the state.

Riot, who is also Serian Member of Parliament, also gave an assurance that voters in his constituency, comprising the Tebedu and Kedup state seats, would continue to support the BN in the coming state election.

Meanwhile Sarawak Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister   Datuk Seri Michael Manyin said the Bidayuh community numbering about 200,000 in the state had attained outstanding progress.

“However we should not be complacent because there is still room for us to improve our status and living standard to be on par with other races,” he said. — Bernama
