KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 ― A senior citizen was beaten to death by a robber who tried to snatch her bag in front of her house at Jalan 17/48, Petaling Jaya, at about 6.07pm yesterday.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Azmi Abu Kassim said Ang Hun Mung, 66, a retiree, was believed to have been beaten up by the suspect when she refused to hand over her bag.

The victim had come out to investigate noises coming from her neighbouring house that also belonged to her when the robber who had broken into the house rushed out to grab her bag but when she refused, there was a struggle and the robber, in his 20s had beaten the victim until she collapsed.

The suspect who failed to grab the bag panicked when the victim collapsed and fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The victim's body was later sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre(PPUM) for post-mortem. ― Bernama
