Jamaluddin laid to rest at National Mosque Mausoleum

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 ― The remains of Rompin MP Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis was laid to rest amid light rain at the National Mosque Mausoleum.

The remains arrived at the mosque at 3.15pm and the funeral prayers were held after the Asar prayers, led by the Grand Imam Tan Sri Sheikh Ismail Muhammad.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, as well as Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and almost a thousand family members and friends.

Jamaluddin was buried next to former Cabinet minister Tan Sri Hamzah Abu Samah at 5.50pm.

Jamaluddin, 63, was killed when the helicopter AS365N2 Dauphin he was travelling in to return home after attending Najib's daughter's wedding reception in Pekan, Pahang, crashed on a rubber plantation in Semenyih, Selangor at 4.45pm yesterday.

The incident also claimed the lives of Najib's chief of staff, Datuk Azlin Alias, pilot Capt Clifford William Fournier, operations assistant Aidana Baizieva, Jamaluddin's bodyguard Razakan B Seran and businessman Datuk Tan Huat Seang. ― Bernama
