KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — Putrajaya must address issues raised by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as disregarding his grouses will exacerbate matters, Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

In a report by The Star, the youth and sports minister disagreed with Dr Mahathir that Barisan Nasional was at risk of losing the next general election, but agreed that the issues the latter raised deserved satisfactory explanations.

“I think, if we ignore this, things will get worse. Even if we feel that these issues have been answered, we need to answer them again, in more detail,” Khairy was quoted as saying in the report.

On Thursday, Dr Mahathir “upped the ante” and demanded answers on the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu as well as allegations on 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The former prime minister insisted that police must investigate former commando Sirul Azhar Umar’s claim that he killed the Mongolian under orders, while expressing disappointment over Putrajaya’s attempts to fend off allegations surrounding the heavily indebted state investment firm.

Dr Mahathir also suggested on his blog then that BN could end up losing power in the next general election because of falling confidence in the current administration.
