KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — The Public Accounts Commitee (PAC) will be probing Putrajaya’s handling of its Visit Malaysia Year events, as well as its land lease for e-learning project 1BestariNet.
PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the Ministry of Tourism will be called for a hearing on April 7, while the Director-General of the Department of Lands and Mines (KPTG) will be summoned on April 8.
According to Nur Jazlan, the KPTG will be asked about the leasing of the Ministry of Education’s land for the 1BestariNet project, as well as the department’s policy on leasing government land.
“We are also going to ask how KPTG leases out land. For example, the Bintang Walk project in KL — how a sidewalk road reserve can be leased out for the contruction of a building on that piece of land.
“We are also going to ask KPTG about their role in Pembinaan PFI Sdn Bhd because they leased out land to Pembinaan PFI for a fee and that was used as collateral to raise financing for Pembinaan PFI Sdn Bhd,” he told reporters in Parliament here after a PAC briefing.
He also told reporters that the Auditor-General (A-G) is expected to table on April 6 his department’s first series of its audit report on Putrajaya for the year 2014.
The PAC will select issues from the A-G report next week for its own investigations in its hearings.
