PETALING JAYA, March 30 — Questions that protest0rs against the goods and services tax (GST) submitted to the Customs Department during a recent rally have been answered, the Customs Department said today.

Customs director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said he provided the majority of the answers that were available on the department’s website on GST.

“I didn’t answer every 106 question. We answered only questions related to GST,” he told reporters at the Customs Complex here.

He then told the group to write in and arrange for a meeting if they insist on meeting the Customs Department over the issue.

Last week, demonstrators submitted a list of 106 questions on the new consumption tax during a protest at the Customs Department’s head office in Kelana Jaya.

Nearly 80 people were arrested during the event, 25 of whom including two federal lawmakers were later charged.

Putrajaya will begin collecting a 6-per cent GST beginning April 1.
