KOTA BARU, March 10 — The Kota Baru PAS division has nominated PAS vice president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for the post of PAS President currently held by Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Kota Baru division PAS chief Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah said Tuan Ibrahim was nominated because the division was confident that Hadi would not seek re-election at the PAS General Assembly in June.

Hadi is not well and may be elected as the PAS Spiritual leader instead of president because the responsibilities of a president is tough compared with the PAS Spiritual leader's role.

Wan Abdul Rahim said the decision to pick Tuan Ibrahim was made at the Kota Baru PAS general assembly last night.

However, the division would not nominate names for the posts of Deputy President or Vice President to avoid any controversy.

The PAS Spiritual Leader's post fell vacant after the demise of Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat on Feb 12. — Bernama
