GEORGE TOWN, March 7 — Police have identified four suspects in the machete attack on a 33-year-old parking attendant early Thursday morning.
District police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the victim, who is being treated at the Penang Hospital, knew the assailants.
“We have identified them and expect to make some arrests in the next few days,” he said yesterday.
The victim, whose name is withheld by the police, sustained injuries on his body after he was hacked several times by a man at the car park outside an entertainment outlet at Weld Quay.
The victim was chatting with two friends when seven men confronted him.
The confrontation turned ugly when one of the men hacked the victim several times.
The assailant then warned the victim’s friends not to patronise the place.
The seven left after threatening to behead the victim and his friends if they lodged a police report.
The case is being investigated as rioting under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
