Boy, 10, abused with metal cable by relatives

IPOH, March 3 — A 10-year-old boy has been admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here after he was allegedly abused by his relatives.

The boy, believed to be from Klebang, is alleged to have been abused by his relatives for over a month.

The boy’s pictures are making rounds on the Internet with thousands of social media users condemning the act while sharing the photographs on their respective timelines.

The pictures show the boy being beaten on his head, face, arms, legs and other parts of the body.

Based on information provided with the photographs, it is understood the abuse took place in Menglembu.

He was allegedly beaten by his aunt and her husband using a metal cable, among others.

Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong confirmed police received a report on the matter. The report was lodged by the boy’s parents yesterday.

“The boy was allegedly sent to relatives on February 3 to be taken care of,” said Sum. “When the parents went to see their son on February 28 at the relatives’ place in Bukit Merah, they were shocked to see his condition — with bruises on his face and body.

“The parents took him to hospital on Saturday for treatment.”

He said police viewed the matter seriously and would investigate although the parents have yet to decide whether to press charges.

A check with the Perak Social Welfare Department revealed the department was not aware of the incident.

When Malay Mail attempted to visit the boy, the request was turned down. Only his parents were allowed in.
