KUCHING, March 1 — The Sarawak Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has seized goods valued at RM279,923.07 between Jan 1 to Feb 27.

State KPDNKK director Stanley Tan said the seized goods were from 188 cases under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, Weights and Measures Act 1972, Trade Descriptions Act 2011, the Consumer Protection Act 1999 and Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Tan said during the recent Chinese New Year festival, the ministry launched the Price Control Scheme, starting from Feb 14 until Feb 25.

“During the period, the state KPDNKK made 10,587 inspections on traders and recorded 13 cases of non-compliance under the scheme and seized goods worth RM1,945.85,” he said at the launch of the Price Reduction Campaign 2015.

The campaign was launched by Sarawak Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, here, today.

Tan said until today, the state KPDNKK made 26,868 inspections under several operations including ‘Ops Catut’ starting Jan 15 and recorded 133 cases and seized goods valued at RM30,124.43. — Bernama
