KOTA KINABALU, Feb 24 — The killing of a 20-year-old college student who was yesterday found dead with multiple injuries on her body at the Keningau district district office has left state police baffled.

Sabah CID chief Datuk Salehhudin Abdul Rahman said that police have no leads on a suspect, but were investigating all possible angles including claims that the girl was fighting against an arranged marriage.

“It is unclear what has happened as we found no weapon at the scene. We have also not made any arrests yet,” he said.

The victim, Sairah Fitri Tifanus from Kampung Durok in Keningau, was found in a pool of blood inside the ladies’ toilet on the second floor of the district office after arriving at work at about 9.00am yesterday.

Keningau district police chief deputy superintendent Douglas Nyeging Taong said that the post mortem report revealed the victim had bruises on her face, ear, arm and thigh.

“We believe she may have been hit by a blunt object before she was stabbed,” he told reporters.

According to early investigations, Sairah had started her internship at the licensing division of the district office on January 12 and had come into work at 8.00am as usual yesterday.

She excused herself to go to the washroom at about 8.30am and did not return.

When another employee tried to enter the bathroom, she found it locked and had to get security personnel to open it before discovering the victim’s body.

Police sources also said that friends of the victim said she had been under stress lately from family pressure to marry a family friend.

Salehhudin said police will continue to investigate further.
