KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — A lookout point costing about RM3 million is part of the reconstruction of the collapsed slope in Taman Bukit Setiwangsa involving RM26.2 million.

Work on the lookout point and reconstruction of the slope at a cost of RM23.2 million involves allocation from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), I&P Sdn Bhd and the government.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said the lookout point will be a new attraction for local and foreign tourists.

“Construction work began on April 28 last year and until January 31, progress has reached 50 per cent and expected to be completed in July this year.

“We are working with the residents’ association to ensure that construction of the lookout point does not compromise public safety,” he told reporters, here today.

Ahmad Phesal said maintenance work has been done and construction of the lookout point will start after it is approved by Institute of Public Works Malaysia.

Meanwhile, deputy chairman of Puncak Setiawangsa Residents Association, Fauziah Jamaludin said the residents are satisfied with the reconstruction of the slope and the lookout point.

“However, the construction work should not use Jalan Puncak Setiawangsa as the main route to the lookout point but from the bottom.

“This is to ensure the safety of residents,” she added. — Bernama
