Najib to cut short Davos trip to attend Saudi King Abdullah's funeral

DAVOS, Jan 23 — Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today cancelled all his programmes at the World Economic Forum (WEF) here to attend the funeral of the late King Abdullah Abdulaziz in Saudi Arabia.

Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, are scheduled to leave Davos at 9.30am (4.3 pm in Malaysia) and fly off to Riyadh at about noon from Zurich by a special aircraft, said the prime minister’s press secretary, Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhles.

Najib’s working visit to the United Kingdom remains as scheduled, from January 24 to 26.

King Abdullah died early today at the age of 90. His brother, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, has been named the new king. — Bernama
