Road bully jailed, fined RM700 for kicking woman’s car

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — An unemployed man was sentenced to a day in jail and fined RM700 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after he pleaded guilty to a charge of kicking a woman’s car last week.

Magistrate Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor ordered Chong Yew Fatt, 52, to serve the jail sentence on the day of his arrest on January 15.

The court also ordered Chong to serve a month’s jail if he failed to pay the fine. Chong paid the fine.

Chong admitted to have kicked the rear bumper of the car belonging to S. Purnima, 32, who is a deputy public prosecutor, after she honked at him when he overtook her car at Bukit Jalil-Puchong Expressway near the Technology Park Malaysia, Cheras, here at 5.45pm on January 14.

The incident caused the woman to incur losses of RM200.

Chong was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of two years or fine, or both.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin prosecuted, while Chong was not represented. — Bernama
