KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — A man, believed to be suffering from mental illness, fatally hit his 75-year-old mother on the head with a hammer because he did not want to take his medication.

Kajang district police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said in the 10.30am incident at Taman Awana here, the 36-year-old suspect was angry when his mother urged him to take his medicine.              

“A small fight broke out that resulted in the suspect acting furiously with rage and hitting the victim on the head using an iron hammer until she died.”              

It is understood that the suspect later informed the police of the incident.              

According to Ab Rashid, the suspect has been suffering from mental illness after being involved in a road accident 10 years ago. — Bernama
