Hishammuddin: Defence Ministry to give compassionate money to staff affected by floods

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 ― The Defence Ministry will give compassionate money of RM500 to each of the its staff, as well as Armed Forces (ATM) staff and veterans, who were affected by floods beginning middle of this month.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in a statement today said the payment would be made in stages based on stipulated criteria. 

“The one-off payment of the compassionate money is aimed at alleviating the burden of those affected by floods and to ensure the wellbeing of the ministry's staff and ATM veterans,” he said.

Hishammuddin said eligible flood victims among ATM veterans need to submit their applications to the Veteran Affairs Department director Bakhtiar Effendi Khalid or by contacting 03-2050 8014 or 012-720 2008.        

For ATM staff, he said the application must be submitted to the ATM Salary Management Department or by contacting Brig Gen Abdul Halim Salleh at 019-6403 120 or Lt Col Abdul Halim Md Nor at 019-353 7094, while the civil servants under the ministry were required to submit their applications to the ministry's

Finance Department or by contacting P.Pathmanathan at 03-2071 5170 or 017-5623853. ― Bernama
